[MORINAGA] HI-CHEW (Green apple flavor)/ “[森永]ハイチュウ グリーンアップル”

Until today, I have introduced you wide variety of snacks. But I’ve forgot to tell you a big genre. It’s “chewing soft candy”. Do you get what it is? I don’t think so. In Japan, it’s much easier to tell the name of the particular snack “Hi-chew”. This is also among standards in Japan. Before Morinaga started selling Hi-chew, they had been selling Chew-let since 1956. And at 1975, they remodeled it to Hi-chew.

OK, let’s have a look of the outer package. This is a typical stick-package. Not only at convenience store but at Kiosk in the station, you can find this because of this useful package.

And let’s see what’s inside. Candies wrapped in silver paper will tumble out. 12 pieces in a package. Though you can see 11 in the photo….

Then, let’s take the paper off. Today, this is Green apple flavor and the color is light green. Sorry, I confess this color doesn’t stimulate my appetite…

And this is show time! This is the essence of Hi-chew and why this snack is categorized as chewing-soft-candy. The texture is like caramel.
