[meiji]APOLLO /”[明治]アポロ”

I don’t remember how many times I have said this but, let me say once again. This is the standard of the standards. Though it depends on the generation, it’s so hard to find someone who have never eaten this. This APOLLO is sold since the summer in 1969 and it’s among longest sold snack.

The package is like this. This is like a model of cheap snacks. Catchy design and rectangular package which is easy to handle for kids and easy to store.

When you open, chocolates will come out from inside. It can be done with the word “This is a cheap snack” though, I suppose it should be difficult to make tasty chocolate which doesn’t melt in a paper box.

Anyway, let’s see the chocolate itself. Talking about the characteristic of this APOLLO, this unique shape should come at first. Of course, there is a reason why this is shaped like this.

Some people may remember it, the summer in 1969 is the time Apollo 11 landed on the surface of the moon. Of course, this snack is named after it. And not only the name, the figure itself is also made like the command module of Apollo 11. Yeah, it takes after the module!

By the way, I arranged those for counting. 33 chocolates were in a box. When you arrange like this, they look like barnacles on the shore, or the herd of octopus coming to you.
The upper is made from strawberry chocolate and the lower is milk chocolate.
